The pre-match press conference was held today Thursday evening for Baniyas against Ittihad Kalba fixture in the 19h round of the Arabian Gulf League in the presence of Baniyas Coach Winfried Schaefer, the player Ahmed Shehda, the media, and newspapers.
Baniyas coach started the press conference talking about the current Emirati football situation and the turning-down performance of the league, the National teams, and the clubs in the AFC Champions League by saying: “The local player needs intensive and doubled work and we must support those players as much as we can if we want a good technical performance.”
Schaefer’s words came-out to support Ittihad Kalba coach, Jorge Da Silva, where he said that he is right.
“We, the coaches are under big pressure to improve the quality of these players”, and as Baniyas coach, he is happy with the performance of the young players who improved a lot throughout the last six months.
The coach praised the goalkeeper Fahad Al Dhanhani, the two full-backs Badr Al Shabibi and Khamis Al Hammadi who has the ability to play in various positions, also he said that I won’t forget Khaled Al Attas or Fawaz Awana, who presented the best game since last two seasons, besides them, Suhail Al Noubi who came back from an injury and ran in the whole 120 minutes.
Schaefer said that Ahmed Shehda, Shaheen Suroor, Mohamed Kamaas and all the players are receiving huge support from the club, saying that it came from the support of the club’s presidents, and as the club’s coach, he wants the club to be successful in supporting these players and building a team that is capable to compete in next years.
Speaking of Baniyas fixture against Ittihad Kalba, the coach didn’t hide his appreciation of Ittihad Kalba distinguished performance saying: “We will play with offensive tactics in order to gain a good result and trying to be in a better position in the league.” Also, the coach added that Khaled Al Attas, Sultan Al Shamsi, Khamis Al Hammadi will miss the next game due to yellow card accumulation.
The coach mentioned the foreigners’ performances saying: “There are no differences between the local and foreigner players, all of them are professional players and we work as one team. Winning comes from everyone and losses should be dealt with it and carried on.”
About Ahmed Shehda’s performance specifically, he said that he is a special player and I believe in his capabilities that will help us in the next game and create a difference in it.
Ahmed Shehda was present in the press conference, where he said that: “We aim for the three points and gaining a positive result after the knock-out from the semi-finals of the President’s Cup and we as players, we realize the amount of responsibility, and we should play with determination and spirit to win the three points.”
He added by saying that he is not looking for personal achievements because what is important is the team, and if we will the next match I will be very happy, yet, it doesn’t matter if I scored or not, because we play as one group and the important thing is the team, even if I didn’t play I will support my teammates until the last moment.
