Baniyas managed to achieve a valuable victory against its host Al Dhafra in the last minutes of the match that brought the two teams together at Hamdan Bin Zayed Stadium in the Western Region for the fourth round of the ADNOC Professional League.
Al Samawi entered the meeting with a squad that included Fahd Al-Dhanhani, Joao Victor, Muhammad Jaber, Sasha, Khamis Al-Hammadi, Gaston Suarez, Fawaz Awana, Ahmed Shehda, Suhail Al-Nubi, Amer Abdul Rahman, and Isaac Thelin.
The beginning of the first half came with an advantage for the visitors, as they were able to control the course of the match and scored the first goal through defender Saca in the 12th minute with an elegant header that inhabited the Al Dhafra net.
After the goal, Al Dhafra tried to adjust the result and had an opportunity that hit the post through Makhiti Diop, and the attempts continued between the two parties, ending the first half with the lead of Baniyas with a goal for nothing.
In the second half, Baniyas tried to score the second goal, as many dangerous opportunities arose, the most prominent of which was Suhail Al Noubi, but he faced the brilliance of the Al Dhafra goalkeeper.
Al Dhafra took advantage of missed opportunities from the visitors and managed to score the equalizer through Makhiti Diop in the 60th minute with a header.
The excitement came at the end of the match when Baniyas scored the winning goal in the last seconds of the match through Fawaz Awana after a distinguished assist from the Swidden Isaac Thelin, who had doubts about the goal’s validity, but the video technology VAR confirmed the validity of the goal, to gain Al-Samawi three important points against the stubborn opponent.
