In the opening round of the ADNOC Pro League 24-25 , Baniyas managed to achieve an important victory over Al Jazira with a score of 2-0 in the match that took place at Al Shamkha Stadium.

The Sky Blues entered the match with a lineup that included Fahad Al Dhanhani, Khamis Al Mansouri, Burka, Joao Victor, Khalaf Al Hosani, Sil Samuel, Fawaz Awana, Juan Bauza, Lazar Markovic, Isaac, and Youssefou Niakaté.

The match started with a balance between the two teams, as Al Jazira tried to advance through side attacks, while Baniyas sought to penetrate the defense by playing from deep. However, the result did not change in the first half amid great caution between the two parties.

In the second half, Bani Yas entered strongly seeking to advance and managed to score the first goal in the 55th minute with a powerful shot from the Argentine Juan Bauza, who took advantage of a pass from his teammate Youssef Niakaté.

Then, Niakaté  strengthened the result by scoring the second goal in the 77th minute, where he deceived goalkeeper Ali Khaseif with a precise shot, which secured his team the three points.

With this victory, Bani Yas succeeded in breaking a series of negative results against Al Jazira, as they have not achieved any victory over the team since 2019. On the other hand, Al Jazira suffered its first defeat in the opening of the league since the 2015-2016 season, which reflects the team's difficult start to the current season.
