Baniyas succeeded in winning the Abu Dhabi derby after defeating Al Wahda by two goals to one in the final moments of the match in the fifth round of the ADNOC Professional League, which was held at Al Shamkha Stadium on Friday, October 6, 2023.

Al-Samawi entered the match with a squad that included: Fahd Al-Dhanhani - Sasha - Hussein Abbas - Abdullah Jassim - Khamis Al-Hammadi - Fawaz Awana - Suarez - Geraldes - Taulant Seferi - Suhail Al-Noubi - and Youssoufou Niakaté.

Al-Wahda started the match with an advantage, as Omar Kharbin directed a powerful shot, which was blocked by goalkeeper Fahd Al-Dhanhani. In the 25th minute, Daniel Facundo managed to score the goal for the visiting team with a header that went into the Baniyas goal.

In the 42nd minute, Al-Wahda received a red card against player Abdul Rahman Saleh, so Al-Wahda completed the match with a reduced number.

In the second half, Baniyas entered strongly, seeking to adjust the score and began to pose a great threat to Al Wahda’s goal until Youssef Nyakati was able to get a penalty kick successfully executed by Albanian Taulant Seferi in the 82nd minute, bringing Baniyas back in the match.

In the last seconds of the match, Youssoufou Niakaté succeeded in scoring the second goal for Baniyas with a header and a wonderful rise to put the ball past Mohammed Al Shamsi and announce Baniyas’ victory in the derby.

With this victory, Baniyas’ score increased to 7 points in the ranking table, occupying sixth place after the end of the fifth round.
