Baniyas lost two goals to one against its guest Al-Wasl for the League of Sixteen League Championship, which was held at Al Shamkha Stadium.

Al-Samawi entered the meeting with a squad that included Fahd Al-Dhanhani, Joao Victor, Muhammad Jaber, Sasha, Sultan Al-Harami, Gaston Suarez, Fawaz Awana, Ahmed Shehda, Suhail Al-Nubi, Nicolas Gimenez, and Said Khamis.

Al-Samawy opened the scoring through Sayed Khamis after a perfect cross from Suhail Al-Nubi in the 7th minute.

Al Wasl managed to come back and adjust the score through Fabio Lima in the 24th minute.

Before the end of the first half, Italian Michel Araujo doubled the score for Al Wasl by scoring the second goal in the 43rd minute.

Baniyas tried to return to the match in the second half, but he faced impenetrable defenses from the visiting team, and the first leg ended with two goals against one for the visitors.

The return meeting will be there in Dubai on the grounds of Zabeel Stadium on October 26.
