Baniyas Club secured an impressive and well-deserved 4–1 victory over Sharjah in their Round 8 clash of the ADNOC Pro League, held at Sharjah Stadium, delivering one of the team’s strongest performances this season and claiming three valuable points away from home.
Baniyas started the match with high intensity and quickly took control of the proceedings.
Just 3 minutes into the game, forward Lionel Wamba opened the scoring with a precise finish inside the box, giving the Sky Blues an ideal start.
Baniyas continued to pressure Sharjah’s defense, and their attacking momentum paid off again in the 37th minute, when Wamba doubled the lead with his second goal of the match following another well-constructed attacking sequence.
The first half ended with Baniyas firmly ahead 2–0.
Baniyas maintained its discipline and attacking intent in the second half.
A penalty was awarded to the Sky Blues in the 60th minute after a foul inside the area, and Saviour Godwin confidently converted from the spot to make it 3–0.
The dominance continued, and in the 78th minute, Youssoufou Niakaté added the fourth goal after a sharp pass from Fawaz Awana, completing a brilliantly executed team play.
Sharjah pulled one back in the 86th minute through Igor Coronado, who scored from the penalty spot.
During stoppage time, the referee initially issued a red card to Baniyas' player Otabek Shukurov, but after VAR review, the decision was overturned, and play resumed without any dismissals.
