Baniyas Fall to Al Wasl in ADNOC Pro League Round 6

Baniyas suffered a 2-0 defeat against Al Wasl at Baniyas Stadium in Round 6 of the 2026/27 ADNOC Pro League season.

The Sky Blues entered the encounter determined to secure a positive result in front of their home supporters, showing attacking intent in the opening stages as they looked to create opportunities and put pressure on the visitors' defence.

However, Al Wasl took the lead in the 11th minute through Mehdi Taremi, who converted a pass from Nicolas Gimenez to give the visitors an early advantage.

Baniyas responded by looking to build attacking moves and find a way back into the contest. Nevertheless, Al Wasl doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time, with Cameron Puertas finding the net in the 45+1st minute, sending the visitors into the break with a 2-0 advantage.

Following the restart, Baniyas increased their attacking efforts in search of a goal to reduce the deficit. The Sky Blues came close in the 54th minute, when Saviour Godwin struck a powerful effort against the crossbar, narrowly missing an opportunity to bring his side back into the game.

Baniyas continued to push forward and created another promising chance in the 59th minute, but Al Wasl goalkeeper Dinko Horkaš produced a save to preserve his team's two-goal lead.

Despite further efforts from both sides in the closing stages, neither team managed to add to the scoreline, and the match ended in a 2-0 victory for Al Wasl.

The result leaves Baniyas on one point after six rounds of the ADNOC Pro League. The Sky Blues will now shift their focus to the upcoming fixtures, aiming to improve their performances, secure positive results and return to winning ways.
