Baniyas suffered a 3–0 defeat against Khorfakkan in their Round 9 fixture of the ADNOC Pro League, played at Baniyas Stadium.
Khorfakkan opened the scoring early in the match after being awarded a penalty kick in the 8th minute following a foul inside the box by Baniyas player Khamis Al Hammadi. The penalty was calmly converted by Selim Amallah, giving the visitors an early advantage.
Despite conceding early, Baniyas showed strong attacking intent and enjoyed periods of sustained pressure, creating several goal-scoring opportunities through positive build-up play and effective movement in the final third. However, the team was unable to convert their chances into goals.
Against the run of play, Khorfakkan doubled their lead in the 40th minute through Pedro Pavlov, ending the first half with the visitors ahead by two goals.
Baniyas continued their offensive momentum in the second half and were rewarded with a penalty kick in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, Youssouf Niakate was unable to capitalize, as his spot-kick failed to find the back of the net, denying Baniyas a crucial goal that could have shifted the momentum of the match.
The Sky Blues maintained their attacking efforts until the final minutes, while Khorfakkan relied on defensive organization and counterattacks. Deep into stoppage time, Tarik Tissoudali added the third goal in the 93rd minute to seal the result for the visitors.
Baniyas will now turn their focus to the upcoming fixtures, aiming to build on the positive performance and attacking display as they seek a return to winning ways in the forthcoming rounds of the ADNOC Pro League.
