As part of the President's Cup, Al-Samawi defeated Hatta 3-2 in Dubai In Shabab Al Ahli Dubai stadium , Al-Samawi started the tournament by winning 3-0 at Al Dhafra before he lost 3-2 with Al Ain and lost his chances of competing for the title
