João Pedro Sousa: A tough opponent, but our goal is clear

Baniyas Football Club held a press conference today featuring head coach João Pedro Sousa and player Lazar Marković to discuss the team’s preparations for their upcoming match against Khorfakkan in the ADNOC Pro League.

Head coach João Pedro Sousa began by praising Khorfakkan, acknowledging their organized playstyle and competitive spirit. He stated:

“Khorfakkan is a well-organized team that plays attractive football. I know a few of their players who have previously played in the Portuguese league, so I understand their quality. It will be a tough game, but we are focused on doing our best to secure the three points.”

Sousa highlighted the team’s efforts to improve and address issues from previous matches:

“We are working hard to develop our performance and get back to winning ways. Over the past couple of matches, we’ve made some corrections, and the team is showing progress.”

On squad selection, Sousa explained the challenges posed by injuries:

“Our lack of consistency in fielding the same lineup is due to injuries, but we trust all our players. We select the ones who are fully ready for each game.”

Sousa also revealed ongoing discussions with the club’s management regarding potential signings:

“I’ve spoken with the management about bringing in new players, and we’re currently exploring options to strengthen the squad.”

Regarding player availability, Sousa shared:

“We will miss Khamees Al Hammadi due to suspension, and we will assess João Victor’s readiness until the last moment. Apart from that, everyone is fit and ready for the game.”

He concluded:

“This match will be challenging for both sides, but I believe it will be tougher for Khorfakkan. We are prepared and determined to claim the three points and return with a victory.”

Lazar Marković: Winning is key to getting back on track
Player Lazar Marković echoed the coach’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the match:

“We know this will be a difficult game against a strong opponent, but we are ready to give everything and achieve a positive result.”

Reflecting on the team’s recent form, Marković said:

“We started the season well, but results haven’t gone our way recently. Football is about winning and losing, and all we need now is one win to get back on the right track.”

On his personal performance, he added:

“I always strive to improve and give my best in training and matches. My priority is to contribute to the team and help us achieve victories.”
